We are pleased to announce that the long-awaited Lepto 2 (Leptospirosis) vaccine is now available. This new vaccination offers crucial cross-protection against the predominant strain in the Mackay and surrounding areas—Lepto Australis.

Important Information:

 • Dogs will need two vaccines, administered 4 weeks apart

 • If your dog has seen one of our vets in the last 12 months the price will be $45 per dose

 • Following the initial course, annual boosters will be required to maintain protection

Since the recent shortage of the vaccine, we have observed cases of Lepto Australis in dogs. As a result, we highly recommend that all dogs receive this new vaccine for their protection. While vaccinations are not always 100% effective and full protection cannot be guaranteed, receiving the vaccine significantly increases your pets protection against this serious disease. It’s a proactive step to help safeguard both pets and communities from the risks associated with Lepto australis. There has been no vaccine readily available for Lepto Australis since May 2023, this means all dogs will be due this essential vaccination.
